Frequently Asked Questions

Is there air conditioning in the condo?

It is partially air conditioned. The rear mountain view bedroom has less cross breeze so there is an A/C unit in this bedroom.

The ocean view suite (bedroom/living room/kitchen) does not have air conditioning.  The ocean view suite is never “hot”, but we realize that that the definition of hot is open to interpretation.

We are air conditioning people ourselves and when we stay we just open the sliding doors off the lanai and enjoy the ocean breezes. Note that it does get much cooler at night. Often, when you sleep with the lanai doors open, you will get a bit chilly.

Is there a business center?

Yes there is a business center.  While our unit has its own WIFI Internet access you can visit the business center and use desktop computers, access the Internet, and print/scan/copy documents.

Is there a fitness center?

Yes we have a fitness center.  Newly renovated with all brand new equipment in mid 2017, the fitness center is available for you to keep up with your workouts while you are on vacation.

The fitness center is located in the basement of the resort and is open from 5AM to 10PM.

Is there Internet service and WIFI?

Yes.  You will have access to free high speed Internet service and WI-FI for your stay.  Information on how to connect to the WI-FI will be provided to you.  Also, all major US wireless carriers have excellent coverage in the Kihei area.

How exactly do I rent your condo or ask for more information?

Just fill out the online contact form on the email page or give us a call.

Please remember we are located in the Eastern time zone.  The number is 908-872-4983.

What about a telephone and cell service?

You have a private number and it is listed under C.H. Melbourn. The number is 808-879-8650. There is an answering machine as well. Island calls are free from the landline in the condo. Operator assistance is required for long distance calls.

Of course bring your own cell phone. All major US carriers (Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T) provide both voice and data service.  On the road to Hana, the north side of the Island, and remote areas around Haleakala the service can be spotty.  Check your carrier’s web site for coverage maps.

Are there rental cars available?

All major rental car companies are located at the airport. A car is a necessity as we are somewhat isolated there on the beach. There are also local companies that rent exotic cars, scooters, and even Harley Davidson motorcycles from Eagle Rider.

Are there gas stations and supermarkets close by?

Yes. Within 1 mile you will find both. There is also a convenience store and deli (808 General Store) located on the ground floor of our hotel.

What is the cost to rent your condo?

How long is the trip from Kahalui Airport?

It is 13 miles.  Count on about 25 minutes.  The airport is in the commercial area, we are across the island in the resort area.

Can I drink the tap water. Is it safe?

Yes the tap water is safe to drink.

How do we dispose of trash?

There is a trash chute and recycling bins in the laundry rooms on each floor.

Is there daily maid service?

No.  There is no daily maid service provided.  Maid service is provided only after check out.

If you require daily maid service while you are staying this can be accommodated for an extra charge. Prior to your arrival the entire condo is cleaned, the linens are cleaned and freshened.

Are there laundry rooms available?

Yes. Each floor has a laundry room facility. The washers and dryers take credit cards for your convenience. Sometimes there is detergent in the condo that has been left by prior guests.  If the previous guest did not leave detergent of your liking behind you can get just about anything you would want from 808 General Store downstairs.

What do you supply guests?

The condo will be all set for your arrival.  All paper products and soaps along with extra linens are provided. The kitchen as a full set of cooking utensils and most everything else we think you might like.  Wine glasses and a blender….for sure.

There will be no food as the maids have instructions to remove it and all open containers.

What floor is the condo on?

We are on the fourth floor.  Unit #411

How about the quality of the overall building?

The facility and property are maintained  well.  We a deli and general store (808 General Store).  A new restaurant Monkeypod Kitchen is coming in 2024.  This new facility is replacing The Five Palms restaurant and lounge that closed after the pandemic.

Until the new restaurant is open there is no table service or lounge restaurant on the property.

What is the “quality” of your condo?

We treat it as our own home away from home and upgrade the unit when needed.  All condos in the building are the same size, floorplan, and face the ocean. Some have been upgraded more recently than others.  Some units like ours are privately owned and some are owned by the hotel.

Are you really close to the ocean and are you “on the beach?”

Yes. As you walk out from the condo, you will pass the pool, cross our lawn and you will be on the beach. We, honestly, have one of the best locations on Maui. The waves caressing the beach will gently lull to sleep at night.
